European
Evaluation Society –
European
Symposium on Evaluative Practices in Higher Education
The EES is
delighted to bring to your attention a symposium it is sponsoring
with the University of Fribourg and the University of Lancaster
to be held at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland,
June 5th, 2009. The European Symposium on Evaluative Practices
in Higher Education will provide a unique opportunity
to focus on evaluative
practices embedded in Higher Education. This is an important
sector within Europe with rapid changes in European policy, practice
and global positioning.
This is the first attempt to explore evaluation in a social policy
sector as a whole and introduces an approach which focuses on
evaluation practice in a broad sense. This type of work within
evaluation research is innovative and suggests a new way of depicting
evaluation as practice rather than a 'discipline'.
The symposium will offer an opportunity for exchange, debate
and exploration of the way evaluative practice in this important
policy area might be depicted and is experienced. It will be
of interest to all those working and learning within the Higher
Education sector and to managers, officers and administrators
at national or regional level. It will offer a framework for
discussing evaluative practice in HE and case studies from across
Europe.
