Treasurer: Nancy Porteous (North America)

For the past 15 years, Nancy has worked in the public and private sectors, specializing in planning, evaluation and performance measurement, with a special interest in health and human services. Nancy is currently working as a senior advisor in evaluation with the federal government’s Public Health Agency of Canada.

Nancy has been an active member of the Canadian Evaluation Society for many years, serving as President in 2000-2002.  Established in 1981, the Society is almost 2,000 members strong, with 12 regional chapters. Nancy was awarded the Contribution to Evaluation in Canada Award by the Canadian Evaluation Society in 1998 for her contribution to the theory and practice of evaluation in Canada.  Nancy represented Canada on the founding Board of the International Organisation for Cooperation in Evaluation from 2003-2005.

Nancy has published manuscripts and presented papers and workshops at conferences in Canada, U.S.A., Russia, Israel, South Africa and Peru and has served as guest editor for recent issues of the Canadian Journal of Program Evaluation.  Nancy is a faculty member of the International Program for Development Evaluation Training hosted by the World Bank and Carleton University. Nancy was also a Research Associate with the University of Ottawa's Community Health Research Unit.  Nancy has an Honours B.A. in Sociology from McGill University and an M.Sc. in Social Research Methods from the University of Surrey, England, where she studied as a Commonwealth Scholar.
