| When
Will We Ever Learn: Recommendations to Improve Social Development
through Enhanced Impact Evaluation
What works to improve health, education
and other social indicators in developing countries?
Despite
decades of large investments by development agencies and developing
countries themselves, the evidence base to answer this question
is surprisingly slim. With new financial commitments by donors
and increased attention to achieving major gains in health,
education and poverty reduction over the next 10 years, the
opportunity and the imperative now exist to build knowledge
about the impact of particular types of interventions on key
outcomes.
The Center for Global Development invites
you to review and comment on a new draft report, “When
Will We Ever Learn? Recommendations to Improve Social Development
through Enhanced Impact Evaluation,” which seeks to
analyze the causes for the under-supply of knowledge about
“what works,” and propose a specific set of actions
to address that problem by coordinating, improving and funding
impact evaluations.
